The 1st day I was in Iceland Heidar Logi and I drove through the night on a full moon to the north to score waves. As we drove, the moon shone on the biggest, wildest, harshest most baron mountains I’ve ever seen. They were beautiful. I couldn’t stop staring at them. I asked Heidar if anyone ever walks over these mountains? His reply “No, but the Vikings used too”. This got stuck in my head, what it must be like for anyone to cross these mountains in the harshest most unpredictable environment on the planet. I wondered if I could do it, and then I decided I was going to do it. No Tent, limited food. I trained and ultimately survived the biggest challenge of my life. This is the story of my solo mountain crossing in the north of Iceland.
